What are healthy carbs?

Being a diabetic I have to be careful with the amount of carbs i eat, wholemeal bread, porridge and barley are good carbs as they release the energy slower than white bread which is quickly turned to sugar to raise the sugar levels to give a burst of energy and then quickly drop. You need carbs to help your body function. You can eat as much vegetables as you want but still need carbs.
